Be sugar free

The NAWLS Small Bite for today is

Be sugar free.
Sugar is addictive. No matter how much you want that not to be true, it is true. Most WLS patients, especially gastric bypass patients, avoid sugar after surgery, at least for a while. But when they go back, they have trouble limiting themselves, just like the days before surgery.

The best gift you can give yourself is to never go back to eating sugar. If you already have gone back to it, and you can't seem to stop, try to come to terms with the idea that sugar is an addictive substance, and open yourself to the possibility of abstaining completely.

Action for the day:
If you are in the grips of sugar, read a book on the topic of either sugar addiction or food addiction. Begin to educate yourself about how to get off sugar and develop a plan to get it out of your life. You won't regret it.
