Trust your own judgement

Had a fantastic day today - It started with an aqua aerobics session with Maryanne at one of the local swimming pools. Then we needed to do the grocery shopping and I must say we did a pretty awesome job of keeping to budget and also good healthy options.

Then Leigh & Maryanne dropped around their treadmill for me to borrow, as they are not currently using it, and I need to get myself moving. I have not started on my 15000 steps for this week on the Wii yet, so I am already behind in what I need to do. But I will do it, and next week I will mix it up with the treadmill as well as aqua.

Okay so onto today's NAWLS Small Bite.

Trust your own judgement.
In most endeavours you undertake, there will be a line of people telling you ow to do it. Some advise is great, but no matter how much you love, respect, or trust the people giving the advise, only you can judge if the advice is best for you.

When someone gives you advice you feel is wrong, you can always seek a second opinion. Respect other people's advise, thank them, and then make your own decision.

Action for the day:
Concentrate today on being your own person, while keeping an open mind.

I think I do this okay personally. I know that there are many things that I might do slightly differently than the program or what other people have suggested purely because it works for me. For example, eating fruit. We are not meant to really eat that much fruit as it is a carb and if we do we are meant to eat it with protein. Well for me, I have found that fruit is a better alternative to chippies and chocolate, so if I need something extra, or something sweet to finish off a meal, it is much better for me to have the fruit than something worse.

I think that as I set up the National Organisation I will need to be mindful that the advise that the organisation it giving covers many basis, so that people can find their own path in the WLS journey. We are of course all different, but sharing a simalar journey and life sure would be boring if we were the same.

  2. Hi Janine,

This is a good one! I agree - I am trying to do WW and while there is no "off limit" food I sometimes have to completely ban cheese for a few weeks, and buy my partner one I don't like. For my friend, it has been Tim Tams and chocolate in general. It doesn't have to be a permanent change either, just one to get you through the tough times.

Good luck with the ongoing efforts and I'm glad you had such a great day - love it when that happens!
